During laser hair removal, a laser emits a light that is absorbed by the pigment known as melanin in the hair. The light energy then is converted into heat, which damages the hair follicles that produce hairs. This damage inhibits future hair growth. LHR removes the hair from the root which leads to hair growing back thinner and softer, with results lasting up to six to ten weeks.
